6 Tips for Better Printed Uniforms and Flags

Frequently Asked Questions

We want your order to look just as awesome as you do! “Will this image work?” is one of the most common questions we get. That’s why we put together this list of things to remember and avoid when sending your images for production.

DO: Start with clear, high-resolution or vector images

For the best print quality, pixel-based images MUST be sent at 300 dpi in jpg, psd, or tif format. Vector-based image files (preferred) MUST be in ai, eps, or pdf format. Your organization’s administration can typically provide these files for you.

Be sure to check with our Sales Team about any charges associated with art setup. In general, we do not charge a setup fee, but complex designs or numerous modifications will require additional charges.

DON’T: Send copyrighted images

Unfortunately, we cannot print images that are subject to copyright or trademark rules. This includes brand logos, movie posters or stills, popular illustrations, or anything related to a product or brand. To use these materials you must provide expressed written permission from the copyright holder.

Band Shoppe strongly encourages customers to use a reliable stock image source for obtaining images to avoid copyright infringement.

DO: Use a reliable stock image source

Band Shoppe recommends shutterstock.com for a huge selection of photographic and vector designs. Just let our Sales Team know the image ID# when ordering, and we’ll take care of the rest! Design services include full-color sketches and a price quote.

DON’T: Rely on your printer or monitor colors

All printers and monitors differ. Most home printers have not undergone professional calibration for accuracy and will not provide an accurate color representation. While we will make every effort to provide the closest match possible, actual colors will vary from what is sketched.

For best results, send us a sample item or garment and we will do our best to come as close as possible.

DO: Reference Pantone (PMS) Colors

Colors are tricky, we have to find standard colors that will apply across different manufacturers and printing systems. That’s where the Pantone Matching System (PMS) helps. Your school or organization may give a PMS code as part of its brand standards. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs use PMS 1235 for standard Gold).

Note: On-screen simulations of PMS colors used in guides or sketches will not precisely match the final product. These are for reference only.

DON’T: Worry!

We can design it for you. If all of this sounds confusing, it’s because a lot goes into a successful printed design. These are just a few of the most common questions. Luckily, Band Shoppe is here to help. Our Sales and Design Teams will work together to create a stunning flag that perfectly compliments your show or uniform.

Make any of our custom and stock uniforms and flags into custom-printed items! Let our Sales Team know if you want to use digitally printed fabrics or need assistance choosing the right colors, fabric, or images.

DO: Remember, custom items are non-refundable

Because all custom uniforms and flags, whether digitally printed or not, are made to order, we cannot accept returns on these items. If an item is incorrect, defective, or damaged, contact Customer Care at (800)457-3501 or email wecare@bandshoppe.com within five (5) days of delivery.
