California Proposition 65

Proposition 65, officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a California law that protects consumers from exposure to chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The law requires businesses to provide warnings if their products may expose consumers to certain listed chemicals.

The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) maintains this list, updating it regularly. As of November 2024, the list includes around 900 chemicals. Proposition 65 helps Californians make informed decisions about their chemical exposures.

In 2016, updated warning label requirements took effect on August 30, 2018. These updates ensure warnings are more detailed and clear for consumers.

Many Band Shoppe items manufactured or listed online after November 1, 2024 will include Prop 65 labeling. This Proposition 65 warning label does not mean a product violates any product safety standards or requirements but is consistent with the practices of other suppliers in our industry.
