Trumpet: On the third valve slide ring, loosen the screw to open the entry point for the lyre. Feed the lyre between the lead pipe and the horn pipe to insert the bent portion of the lyre into the holder. Tighten the screw until the lyre is secure.
Clarinet With Ring: On the lower joint of the clarinet, place the ring of the lyre around the metal rind on the lower joint. Tighten the lyre screw (just like you would a ligature) until secure. Connect upper and lower joint of the clarinet.
